Temporary trail closure to prepare for power line work

June 27, 2017 10:29 AM
(Red Deer, Alberta)

A walking trail in the Michael O’Brien Wetland near 55 Street will close this week for Electric Light & Power to prepare for power line work in the area.

The east/west trail adjacent to 55 Street will be closed from Cardinal Street up to 30 Avenue starting tomorrow morning and will remain closed for up to five days. The trail will be reopened for the weekend.

Electric Light & Power crews will remove trees and tall brush within three metres of either side of the power line to prepare for a power line rebuild, which is scheduled to take place later in July.

Residents are asked to use alternative trails in the area, obey signs and give crews room to work.
