Property assessment appeals due March 21

March 14, 2017 10:04 AM
(Red Deer, Alberta)

The deadline for property owners to appeal their 2017 property assessment is fast approaching.

The value of your property in the assessment notice is used to calculate 2017 property taxes. While assessments can be appealed, your property tax bill cannot. Therefore, it is important to carefully review the assessment value of your property before the appeal deadline on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

If property owners believe there is an error on their assessment notice, they should contact Revenue & Assessment Services at 403-342-8126 and arrange an appointment to speak with an assessor.

If concerns cannot be resolved following a conversation with an assessor, a formal appeal must be submitted to the Clerk of the Regional Assessment Review Board no later than March 21, 2017. Property owners are encouraged to submit appeals early to ensure there is enough time for processing and review. Details on how to file an appeal are online at www.reddeer.ca/RARB.
