Last night, Alberta elected a new government. Mayor Tara Veer and Red Deer City Council extend their congratulations to MLA for Red Deer-North Adriana LaGrange and MLA for Red Deer-South Jason Stephan, as well as Premier-Designate Jason Kenney.
“We look forward to engaging with our local MLA’s on the issues that are important to Red Deer. These include continued advocacy for much needed infrastructure and program expansion at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, energy infrastructure, sufficient shelter capacity, preserving the Parsons House, building a residential treatment centre and adequate provincial grant funding. Together we can build stronger Alberta cities,” said Mayor Tara Veer.
“One of the most significant milestones of 2018 and is one of the most long-standing strategic initiatives for our community was the provincial announcement that Red Deer College would become a university, positioning Red Deer as Alberta’s next university city. We will also continue to work with the Province to see the Red Deer Justice Centre project come to fruition,” said Veer.
More than 42,000 Red Deerians voted in the provincial election, showing their support for the Red Deer candidates.
“The City has always maintained strong relationships with our local MLA’s, and I have no doubt this will continue. These relationships are critical in ensuring we deliver on community priorities. It’s only through strong partnerships with both the provincial and federal orders of government that The City of Red Deer will develop and sustain a high quality of life,” said Veer.
