On February 8, the provincial government announced a three-step plan to ease public health measures. As a result, City facilities are no longer operating the Restrictions Exemption Program, meaning proof of vaccination, negative test result or medical exemption are not required for entry, as of today.
Also announced yesterday was changes to mandatory masking requirements:
- Until February 14, existing masking requirements remain in place: all visitors over the age of 2 are required to wear a mask, unless participating in a physical activity.
- As of February 14, children 12 and under will not be required to wear masks in our facilities.
- As of February 14, visitors over the age of 12 will be required to wear a mask, unless participating in a physical activity. Further masking requirements may be announced as part of the second stage of the provincial plan.
- All staff will continue to wear masks, except while alone in work stations.
In response to the Restrictions Exemption Program, youth-only programming was introduced as a way to include children aged 8-17 in recreation and culture activities without requiring vaccination records; however, this will not continue with the removal of the Restrictions Exemption Program. Youth-only activities scheduled for February 9 will continue, but all future programs will be cancelled. Youth continue to be encouraged to participate in arts and recreation activities with all regularly scheduled public drop-in times.
Indoor group sport, fitness and performance activities will continue for adults and youth, and participants will continue to be required to self screen for symptoms. If you feel unwell or have symptoms, please stay home. We will continue to offer a flexible cancellation/refund policy for those who are unable to participate.
