2022 property tax notices are being sent out today to Red Deer property owners’ mailboxes and inboxes.
The 2022 tax payment deadline is June 30. Payments may be made online or in person through financial institutions, by mail, through mortgage companies, or at City Hall.
Property owners can also sign up for the Tax Instalment Plan (TIP) to pay their taxes in equal automatic monthly payments from June to December. Property owners can join TIP by completing the online form at www.reddeer.ca/TIP by June 15.
Late payment penalties will be applied to unpaid tax account balances on July 1. In 2021, The City temporarily reduced tax penalties to provide relief to those facing financial challenges because of COVID-19. Penalties will be reduced to 5 per cent, rather than 7 per cent, on July 1 for 2022. Those who are facing financial challenges are encouraged to pay what they can by the deadline to reduce penalties on any unpaid tax balance.
Due to delays at the provincial Land Titles Office, The City may not have updated ownership information for recent real estate transactions. Property owners who do not receive their tax notice by the middle of June should contact Revenue & Assessment Services at 403-342-8126 or tax@reddeer.ca.
