Red Deer RCMP arrest man on warrants with counterfeit US currency

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP have arrested a man who was wanted on warrants and was found with almost $1000 worth of counterfeit US currency on him.

RCMP were called to the G.H. Dawe Centre shortly after 1 pm on July 26, where they located a man who was wanted on several outstanding warrants out of Innisfail. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, at which time RCMP located and seized a number of counterfeit US $20 and $50 bills.

28 year old Brett Thomas Lust of Sylvan Lake faces the following charges as a result of the events of July 26, as well as previous charges from his outstanding warrants:

  • Criminal Code 450(b) – Possession of counterfeit money (United States currency)
  • Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with recognizance X 2
  • CDSA 4(1) – Possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine)

Lust will appear in Alberta Provincial Court in Red Deer on August 11 at 9:30 am.
