Red Deer RCMP investigate pharmacy robbery – Update – Arrest made

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP have arrested the man who robbed the downtown IDA pharmacy on February 10 and threatened to stab staff with a needle that he claimed was infected.

RCMP located 41 year old Michael Wayne Demas of Red Deer shortly after 1 pm on February 13 and took him into custody without incident.

Demas will appear in court in Red Deer this morning, February 16, at 9:30 am to face the following charges:

  • Criminal Code 344(b) – Robbery with weapon X 2
  • Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Fail to comply with probation order 
  • CDSA 4(1) – Possession of prohibited substance

Red Deer RCMP investigate pharmacy robbery

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP are looking for a man who robbed a downtown pharmacy yesterday afternoon and threatened to stab staff with a needle that he claimed was infected.

At about 2 pm, the suspect entered the Ross Street IDA Pharmacy and wielded a needle at pharmacy staff, stating he had Hepatitis C and threatening to stab staff with an infected needle unless he was given morphine. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of drugs.
