Red Deer RCMP investigate attempted home invasion

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP are looking for two men with a handgun who attempted an unsuccessful home invasion at a home in the Anders neighbourhood shortly before 3 am this morning.

At about 2:40 am, RCMP received a 911 call that two men wielding a handgun had attempted to force their way into a home on Arnold Close. The resident forced the suspects back, closed the door and called police. The suspects then fled on foot heading west on Averill Street. RCMP responded immediately and contained the area, searching for the two men. Police Dog Services tracked the suspects as far as the East Hill Shopping Centre but did not locate them. The suspects were not known to anyone in the house, and neither person in the house was injured.

The first suspect, wielding the handgun, is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • approximately 6’ tall 
  • slender build
  • short brown hair
  • wearing a black soft shell jacket and black pants
  • carrying a black pistol

The second suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • approximately 5’10” tall
  • small pot belly
  • wearing a black toque, a black pullover hoodie with the hood up, and dark pants
