Red Deer RCMP look for suspect in child luring attempt

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP are looking for a man with a gold tooth after he followed a 13 year old girl yesterday afternoon, then offered her a ride home. The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 pm when the girl boarded a bus at Sorensen Station transit terminal. The man did not approach her at the terminal, but got on the same bus as her and then exited the bus again when she exited in the area of Viscount Drive and 22 Street in the Vanier Woods neighbourhood. The man then offered her a ride home, stating that his vehicle was parked nearby. The girl refused and made her way home safely; the man did not follow her at that point.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Approximately 50 years old
  • Approximately 5’8” tall
  • Stocky build
  • Bald
  • Brown eyes
  • Missing a front tooth, had a gold tooth
  • Spoke in a deep, raspy voice
  • Wearing a puffy black jacket with a hood, baggy, dirty jeans and work boots

RCMP also remind citizens to please call 911 immediately in a situation such as this, where a person’s actions cause a child to feel threatened or uncomfortable; immediate reporting creates better opportunities for police to locate suspects.
