Red Deer, Alberta – Two people face charges after RCMP located them in a stolen vehicle in the Highland Green area the morning of January 19.
Police located the pair in the area of 59 Avenue, south of 67 Street, in a car that had been reported stolen out of Red Deer on January 4. The male driver fled the scene while the female, who was wanted on warrants, was arrested. RCMP and Police Dog Services attended to search for the male, who was located several hours later at a residence in the Normandeau neighbourhood.
33 year old Darren Christopher Ray of Penhold faces the following charges:
- Criminal Code 354(1) – Possession of stolen property over $5,000
- Criminal Code 145(1)(a) – Escape from lawful custody
- Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with recognizance
Ray will appear in Alberta Provincial Court in Red Deer on February 17 for election and plea.
19 year old Kierra Mercedes Saddleback of Red Deer was wanted on a number of warrants, most of which have since been dealt with by the courts. For the events of January 19, she faced one charge of Obstructing a Peace Officer. She has one outstanding charge from a previous incident, Assault With a Weapon, which she will speak to in court this morning in Red Deer.
