Red Deer RCMP investigate armed robbery of taxi driver

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP are looking for two men who robbed a taxi driver by threatening him with a needle the evening of July 23.

The taxi driver picked up the pair of men at the corner of 43 Avenue and 39 Street on July 23 at approximately 8:15 pm. Once they were in the taxi, the suspects displayed a needle they claimed was infected with HIV and demanded cash. They exited the taxi with a small amount of money and fled on foot, going west down the alley behind 39 Street. The taxi driver was not injured in this robbery.

The first suspect is described as

  • Caucasian
  • slim build
  • dark hair
  • about 25 years old
  • wearing a red t-shirt and dark sunglasses

The second suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • slim build
  • dark hair
  • about 40 years old
  • wearing a dirty grey shirt
