Red Deer RCMP arrest teenage girl after stabbing – Update 1

Red Deer, Alberta – The teenage girl who was arrested yesterday after a stabbing by Central Middle School will appear in court in Red Deer this morning at 9:30 am, facing a charge of assault with a weapon.

RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in downtown Red Deer yesterday shortly after 3 pm, when the victim entered the courthouse asking for assistance. EMS attended and took her to hospital, where she was treated for non-serious injuries.

RCMP located the suspect walking downtown near City Hall Park and arrested her without further incident. The weapon was a small kitchen knife.

RCMP will not be reporting further on this incident because the accused is a youth who cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Red Deer RCMP arrest teenage girl after stabbing

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP have arrested a girl after a stabbing by Central Middle School in downtown Red Deer this afternoon.

RCMP have taken a teenage girl into custody after a 26 year old female victim was stabbed twice near Central Middle School shortly after 3 pm on May 19. The victim was taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital where she is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP located the suspect nearby and took her into custody without further incident. The 15 year old girl cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act; she is facing charges that have not been sworn before the courts yet.
