Red Deer RCMP look for public assistance to identify suspect in possible attempted abduction

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP are looking for public assistance to identify a man after a concerning incident where an unknown man approached a woman as she walked to work, revealed knowledge of her name and place of employment, and grabbed her arm.

The incident happened between 1:15 and 2 pm on May 22 as the woman was walking south on Taylor Drive in the area between 28 Street and 22 Street. The stranger drove up to the woman, pulled over and honked to get her attention; the suspect stated her first name and where she worked and indicated that he had been watching her. As the woman began to walk away, the man exited the car and grabbed her arm. She pulled free and ran.

The suspect is described as:

  • approximately 5’10” tall
  • dark skin
  • spoke with a slight accent
  • medium build
  • short black curly hair

The suspect car is described as:

  • grey/silver 4 door car
  • black interior
  • power windows
  • black car/ nose bra
