Red Deer RCMP on scene at pedestrian-vehicle collision – Update

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP have re-opened the intersection at 39 Street and Metcalf Avenue to traffic after a pedestrian-vehicle collision shortly after 8 am this morning sent a boy to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A Dodge Ram truck driving north on Metcalf made a left-hand turn onto 39 Street and struck the back of a bicycle ridden by the victim. The driver remained on scene after the collision and has been issued a ticket under the Traffic Safety Act for making an unsafe turn.

RCMP thank the public for their patience during the traffic disruption.

Red Deer RCMP on scene at pedestrian-vehicle collision

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP are currently on scene at a pedestrian-vehicle collision that occurred shortly after 8 am this morning involving a child on his way to school.

The victim has been taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The intersection at 39 Street and Metcalf Avenue is closed while police investigate the collision. RCMP will issue an update once the intersection has been re-opened. In the meantime, police ask drivers to avoid the area, and thank them for their patience.
