Red Deer, Alta. – With assistance from the public, the Red Deer RCMP GIS unit has arrested the suspect involved in the fatal hit and run that occurred on Sunday, August 9. Additional information will be released later this week.
Red Deer RCMP thank the public for their assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver in question.

Update: Red Deer RCMP providing photos of suspected hit and run vehicle
Red Deer, Alta. – On Sunday afternoon, a male pedestrian was fatally injured after being hit by a passing vehicle on Highway 2A north of Red Deer, near the railroad tracks.
Red Deer RCMP are now able to release multiple photos of the suspect vehicle, in hopes that the public will be able to assist in locating the vehicle and driver. An update to the vehicle description has also been provided:
- Black or dark blue 2000-2006 GMC Yukon SUV
- Truck was hauling a flat deck trailer with a blue scooter on it
The last known direction of travel of the vehicle was westbound on RR391 towards the C&E Trail.

Red Deer RCMP ask public’s assistance to identify fatal hit and run suspect
August 10, 2020
Yesterday afternoon a male pedestrian was fatally injured after being hit by a passing vehicle on Highway 2A north of Red Deer, near the railroad tracks.
At approximately 3:40 p.m. on August 9, a vehicle driving southbound on Highway 2A did not stop after hitting the pedestrian. STARS Air Ambulance transported the 31-year-old male victim from Red Deer to hospital in Calgary, where he later died from his injuries.
Red Deer RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance to locate the suspect vehicle and driver. The vehicle is described as:
- Black or dark blue 2003-2006 1/4 ton GMC/Chevrolet truck with a canopy
- Truck was hauling a flat deck trailer with a blue sport bike motorcycle on it
The last known direction of travel of the vehicle was westbound on RR391 towards the C&E Trail.
