Red Deer, Alta. – The front counter at the downtown Red Deer RCMP detachment will reopen to the public for limited service beginning Thursday, July 9, in alignment with detachments across the province and stage 2 of the provincial relaunch strategy. The front counter and lobby closed on March 18, 2020 as part of The City of Red Deer and RCMP’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the counter will be open, we are continuing to advise the public to continue to do business with us over the phone whenever possible by calling 403-343-5575. This includes reporting motor vehicle collisions/hit and runs where impairment is not suspected, requesting fingerprints, criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks, providing information for an investigation and reporting certain crimes. Additionally, the following crimes can be reported online to Red Deer RCMP: damage/mischief to property under $5,000, theft of bicycle under $5,000, theft under $5,000, theft from vehicle under $5,000, and lost property using this link: https://ocre-sielc.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/alberta.
Control measures will be in place to protect the health and safety of the public and staff including:
- Limiting the number of people permitted in the detachment lobby at one time
- Mandatory physical distancing for staff and members of the public
- Regular sanitizing of surfaces and counters by detachment staff
In addition, citizens are not permitted to visit the detachment if they are feeling unwell, have tested positive for COVID-19, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Hours of operation for the front counter will be Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Red Deer RCMP and The City of Red Deer will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation in Alberta and follow all advice and guidelines set out by Alberta Health and the Chief Medical Officer of Health.
