(Red Deer, Alberta)

The City of Red Deer will be starting construction of an expansion to the Waskasoo Park Trail system along the escarpment of Riverside Meadows/Highland Green. This project has been divided into two phases:

  1. A new asphalt trail linkage from 60th Street & Riverview Avenue, through the Riverside Meadows Central Park site to the lower Highland Green walkway (58 Ave & 61 St), and
  2. A mulched trail right of way between the upper Highland Green walkway, Howarth Street Close, and 60th Street.

The clearing for this trail is scheduled to start early next week, weather permitting. This phase of trail development is anticipated to be complete by spring 2020. Phase 2 of this project includes completing the asphalt trail connection between Howarth Street Close and 60 Street. This work will proceed based on future capital budget approvals.
