(Red Deer, Alberta)

A major rehabilitation project to repair multiple elements of the culvert at Piper Creek and 32 Street will start on July 13.

The structure is 58 years old with multiple elements showing increased signs of deterioration. This project will repair deteriorated elements ensuring the structure reaches a 100-year life. In addition, changes will be made to the structure to improve sightlines and congestion points for trail users. The work includes reconstruction of the wing walls, pathway improvements, concrete repair and replacing the handrails.

Construction is set to begin on July 13 and be complete at the end of October. The Devonian Trail will be detoured for the duration of construction. Signs will be installed to direct users.

Intermittent lane closures will be required along 32 Street to accommodate construction activities.

Drivers are reminded to slow down when driving in construction zones and obey all signs. Pedestrians are reminded to cross only at designated crosswalks.

All road construction is weather dependent and schedules may be subject to change. For information about road construction and closures visit www.reddeer.ca/roadclosures.
