Permit values double compared to last year

Year-to-date building permits have doubled in value over 2017 for the first two months of the year in Red Deer. So far this year, total permits have been valued at $46.7 million compared to $21.3 million last year at this time.                                   

Commercial, industrial and public sector permits have been the strong leaders with permit values in February surpassing last February’s, with residential values lagging.

Notable permits for February include a permit valued at $3.5 million for a new car dealership at 6863 50 Avenue; a permit valued at $1.7 million for exterior renovations to the Centre 5010 at 5010 43 Street; and a $1.9 million permit for a new heat & power generator building at Red Deer College.
