Street sweepers will roll into Red Deer’s residential areas tomorrow.
On Tuesday, April 30, city crews will begin street sweeping in residential areas. For the first time, residential sweeping will be coordinated by Snow Zone, rather than by neighbourhood. Crews will sweep Grey Routes in Snow Zone G on Tuesday and expect to get a start into Snow Zone H as well.
Grey Routes will be swept alphabetically by Snow Zone, starting in Snow Zone G. Once sweeping on Grey Routes is complete, Green Routes will be swept in the same order. Sweeping in residential areas will continue Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. until complete.
No-parking signs are placed on every street during street sweeping, as vehicles left parked on the street are ticketed and towed.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for Street Sweeping Alerts with Notify Red Deer to get a text, email or phone call reminder before parking restrictions take effect in their area. Residents can sign up or update their existing account online at reddeer.ca/notifyreddeer.
Pedestrians and motorists are asked to be cautious around street sweeping equipment by staying at least three car lengths away to avoid injury or damage from flying debris.
Information and schedule updates are available online at reddeer.ca/streetsweeping.
