Blue-green algae tests come back negative for Three Mile Bend

(Red Deer, Alberta) – On August 16, 2019, The City of Red Deer sent water samples for testing to determine if a blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) outbreak was present at Three Mile Bend. Test results have come back negative. 

There are currently no active advisories in effect for bodies of water within the City of Red Deer. Blue-green algae’s peak season runs from July through October, though lower seasonal temperatures have kept the outbreaks at bay. 

If conditions change and blue-green algae is suspected at any body of water within the city, temporary signage will be placed around the affected areas, and an advisory will be posted to
