(Red Deer, Alberta)

Once again, non-profit groups are invited to apply for funding through The City of Red Deer’s Community Recreation Enhancement Grant. The program provides funding to enhance the delivery of community recreation programs, services and events in Red Deer.

Applications are accepted two times per year. Completed applications must be submitted prior to the deadlines of 12:00 p.m. on April 1 or October 1 of the funding year.

In 2020, the City of Red Deer awarded approximately $100,000 to community sport and recreation groups, in order to support and enhance their ability to deliver recreation services and programs to Red Deerians. The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the recreation sector. The City of Red Deer worked with the awarded organizations on grant and reporting requirements in order to allow them room to adapt their project planning and service delivery in light of the pandemic. A complete listing of 2020 grant recipients is available here.

Barb McKee, Recreation Superintendent explains, “the Covid-19 pandemic has brought, and continues to bring, many challenges and we know our community groups are working tirelessly to adapt their service delivery. We are dedicated to supporting them in their development of recreation opportunities in 2021.”
