Host and promote a downtown event

Step 1: Choose a site
Review downtown event spaces, compare site features, and use the Greater Downtown event-site map to find the location that best fits your event.
Step 2: Booking and permits
If your event requires a permit, application fees and submission details are available through The City’s Special Event Permit process.
Step 3: Promote your event
After your event is confirmed, use the following channels to help build awareness:
Free opportunities
- Add your event to the Community Events Calendar
- Share it with Tourism Red Deer, Chamber of Commerce, and Central Sport calendars where appropriate
- Post on your own social channels and tag City accounts
- Submit a We Are Red Deer story
- Pitch your story idea to local media
- Book a free display space in a City recreation or arts facility through facilitybookings@reddeer.ca.
For long-term programs
If you are promoting an ongoing community-led program rather than a one-time event, submit a listing to Look ‘n Book / My Activity Guide through marketing@reddeer.ca.
Paid opportunities
Paid promotion options may include local media, boosted social posts, digital advertising and City facility advertising.
