Downtown Washroom Project

Temporary public washrooms are located in central downtown at 5031, 50 Street (the site of the former Buffalo Hotel) and in Capstone. These washrooms are available for anyone to use.

Hours of operation: Open from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and during special events (may include weekends). 

Toilet paper and hand sanitizer are provided, and the facilities are cleaned at least once per day. The washrooms are supervised by a dedicated attendant. Operations are managed by the Downtown Business Association.

In 2025, the washrooms will operate from May 5 through October 15.

Who can use the washrooms?

Anyone who requires a washroom may use these facilities.

Who cleans and maintains the washrooms?

The downtown washroom is supervised and operated by the Downtown Business Association.

The Capstone washroom is supervised by a dedicated attendant and operations are managed by Canadian Mental Health Association – Red Deer region.

When are the washrooms available?

The downtown facility is open Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and for extended hours during special events (may include weekends). 

The Capstone facility is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and until 10 p.m. on Night Market evenings.

Are the washrooms wheelchair accessible?

The downtown location has one accessible stall. The Capstone location is not accessible, but there is an accessible public washroom in a parking lot across 47 street.
