Advance voting opens October 14 for Red Deer’s 2025 Municipal and School Boards Election

Red Deer residents will soon have an opportunity to cast their ballot in the 2025 Municipal and School Boards Election, with advance voting taking place October 14–18, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The last day for voters to cast their vote is Election Day, Monday, October 20, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

All eligible voters are encouraged to exercise their right to vote for Mayor, City Councillors, and School Board Trustees.

To vote in Red Deer, you must be at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen, and a resident of the city on Election Day.

Red Deer voters have the flexibility to cast their ballot at any voting station in the city. A voter card is not required, and there are no area-specific voting requirements within city limits.

Rural Voters  

Elections Red Deer also administers voting for the Red Deer Catholic Regional School Board, whose boundaries extend beyond Red Deer City limits.

Voting locations for Red Deer Catholic Regional School Board wards (Highway 11 Ward, QEII Ward and Red Deer Area Ward) are listed on the Red Deer Election website along with a downloadable map. Central Alberta voters who wish to vote for Catholic School Trustees can cast their vote at any voting station located within their ward. Advance voting dates vary for rural voting stations. Voters are encouraged to review the website for details.

Identification is required at the voting station. Accepted ID must include your name and current residential address. A full list of acceptable ID is available on the election website. Voters who do not have acceptable identification with their current address may have another elector vouch for them. For voters who are unable to vote in person, special ballots are available. These can be requested online at specialballots.reddeer.ca. Due to the Canada Post service disruption, Elections Red Deer will send special ballots by courier, where possible. Return courier fees are at the voter’s expense. Please note that deadlines apply for both requesting and returning special ballots. Full details are available online.
