Nominations for young athletes are being sought by The City of Red Deer for the Rising Sport Stars awards program.
Many young athletes in our community are just beginning a lifelong journey of being active and achieving success in sport. Through the Rising Sport Stars program, athletes between the age of 7 to 12 years who participate in a Red Deer sport organization are recognized for their commitment, passion, effort or for overcoming adversity to successfully participate and develop skills, regardless of result. The Rising Sport Star program supports local sport organizations, as they develop participants by following Sport for Life’s Long Term Athlete Development model.
Nominations are completed and submitted by various sports groups and awards are presented annually. This year, awards will be presented Saturday, May 9 at the Red Deer & Community Sun Run hosted by Aspire Special Resource Centre. More information about the award ceremony and timing will be announced closer to the event.
Nominations are accepted via online form and must be submitted prior to the nomination deadline of Monday, April 19, 2026.
