Red Deer RCMP are investigating shooting in north Red Deer

Red Deer, Alta. – On Apr. 8, 2026 at 8:59 p.m., Red Deer RCMP received a 911 call reporting gun shots in a hotel in north Red Deer.

Red Deer RCMP responded within minutes and located a male victim with a gun shot wound. The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP located and arrested a male suspect, who remains in custody. Police remain on scene as the incident continues to be investigated.

Police believe this to be a targeted incident; there is no risk to the public.

RCMP are asking for anyone who witnessed the event or has video surveillance to please contact the Red Deer RCMP.
