Red Deer, Alta. – On April 17, 2026, at approximately 9 p.m., Red Deer RCMP was dispatched to a report of an altercation in the downtown core. Upon arrival, it was determined that there was an altercation between a group of youth. One female youth was struck in the head with an object, and a second female was stabbed. Both victims were transported to a local hospital and were treated for their injuries.
Two suspects, a 16-year-old female and a 16-year-old male, both Red Deer residents, were located and arrested a short time later. They have both been charged with the following:
- Aggravated assault
- Assault with a weapon
The female was released for Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on April 30, 2026. The male was remanded to appear in court on April 20, 2026. As all parties involved are youth, no further information will be disclosed.
