Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team leads Targeted Response to Auto Theft (TRAP)

Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) recently complete a 2-day TRAP project, leading to numerous arrests for outstanding warrants and recovery of stolen vehicles.

On Dec. 11 and 12, 2025, Red Deer RCMP CRT led a project that focused on recovering stolen vehicles, apprehending those responsible for the thefts, and executing outstanding warrants. The project was successful with the assistance of the Red Deer RCMP Downtown Patrol Unit (DPU), Traffic Services, Police Dog Services, RCMP Air Services, and Alberta’s Fugitive Apprehension Sherriff Support Team (FASST).

As a result of the project:

  • 4 stolen vehicles were recovered
  • 3 people are facing new charges
  • 21 people were arrested
  • 31 outstanding warrants were executed
  • 4 weapons were seized, including a firearm

Significant arrests:

  • Brandon Kotowski (28) was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants from charges out of Rocky Mountain House, Stettler, and Lacombe Police Service.
  • Travis Casaway (38) was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Red Deer.

Red Deer Crime Reduction Team continues to be committed to the safety of Red Deer. The use of intelligent-led strategies allows CRT to focus on repeat offenders and conduct targeted enforcement.
