Red Deer RCMP investigate youth aggravated assault - update

Red Deer, Alta. – Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) has taken carriage of the investigation which took place in the Lancaster Meadows area of Red Deer on May 11, 2026.

As a result of the investigation, two 14-year-old female youths, both residents of Red Deer, have been identified.

One youth has been arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Assault by Choking.

The second youth has been arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm.

Both youths have been released with conditions to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on June 25, 2026.

RCMP continue to investigate and thank the witnesses who came forward to assist in the investigation. No further information is available at this time.

Red Deer, Alta. – On May 11, 2026, at approximately 2:21 p.m., Red Deer RCMP responded to multiple 911 calls requesting assistance for an assault.

Police were notified that a female youth had been assaulted at a field in the Lancaster Meadows area of Red Deer and was brought into the Collicut Centre for assistance. 

The victim sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

The incident is currently under investigation by Red Deer RCMP General Duty (GD) with the assistance of Red Deer RCMP General Investigative Section (GIS).

Police are asking any witnesses or those who may have video footage to come forward to assist in the investigation.

An update will be provided once more information is available.
