(Red Deer, Alberta)Shortly before 7 p.m. on May 30, Red Deer Emergency Services (RDES) responded to a reported structure fire at a townhouse complex located at 4251 54 Ave.
The fire was quickly brought under control, however fire crews remain on scene to monitor for hotspots and ensure safety. Investigators are also on site to determine the cause of the fire.
As a result of the fire, three townhouse units have sustained extensive damage. A nearby commercial building has also received minor damage. Two members of the public were treated on scene for minor burns.
Five engines and two support ladders responded to the call.
The public is encouraged to avoid the area, as the scene will be closed for several hours. RDES thanks the public for their cooperation.
