Elections Red Deer has released unofficial results for the mayoral race in the 2025 Municipal Election.
At this time, Cindy Jefferies holds the majority of votes with 6,603 ballots counted. These results are unofficial and the numbers may change as ballots in the 2025 Municipal Election continue to be counted.
Counting for the City Council and School Trustee ballots continues with unofficial results expected in the coming days. Under provincial legislation, all municipal election ballots must be counted by hand, which takes more time than in previous elections. This is the first year municipalities have been required to use this process.
“Our election team has worked tirelessly since polls closed to ensure every ballot is handled carefully, securely, and accurately,” said Returning Officer, Jessica Robinson. “I am very grateful to the hundreds of election workers who have shown such professionalism and dedication throughout this election.”
Approximately 140 trained election workers continue to work in shifts to complete the counting process.
Additional updates will be shared as counting progresses this week.
Official results will be confirmed and posted by 12 p.m. (noon) on Friday, October 24, in accordance with the Local Authorities Election Act.
