For 25 years, Red Deer's Waste Management Facility has supported the community's commitment to environmental stewardship through waste diversion, recycling, composting and responsible waste management. Join us as we celebrate that milestone at the 25th AnniverSORTY Celebration on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This free, family-friendly open house invites residents to go behind the scenes with guided facility tours, interactive sorting activities, equipment displays, giveaways and opportunities to meet the team that helps keep Red Deer clean, safe and environmentally responsible.
Visitors can test their sorting skills, learn more about composting and waste diversion, and get information about upcoming Blue Cart recycling changes related to Extended Producer Responsibility. Staff will be available throughout the day to answer questions, share practical sorting tips and help residents prepare for the October 1 expansion of accepted recyclable materials.
