Red Deer, Alta. – On June 15, 2023, at approximately 12:50 p.m. Red Deer RCMP were called to Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School to assist with an altercation that had occurred off school grounds.
Investigation revealed that 2 students were involved in a disagreement on 55 Street in Red Deer.
During the altercation, one student was stabbed with a knife. The victim was transported to hospital and is receiving medical treatment for a non-life-threatening injury.
The school was placed into a hold and secure as a precaution.
One youth has been arrested for assault with a weapon, and the file is currently under investigation.
RCMP want to advise that this was an isolated incident and we do no believe there is a risk to the community.
With the direction of the Public-School Board, classes resumed during the afternoon.
