With warmer weather on the horizon, Red Deerians can look forward to cooling off as the Don Moore Recreation Centre Outdoor Pool opens for the season on Monday, June 1, 2026, weather permitting.
Central Spray & Play and Woody’s Spray Park will also open June 1. Both spray parks will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting.
Central Spray & Play features a 7,500-square-foot spray pad with 35 spray toys and two dump buckets. It is located at the northwest corner of Rotary Recreation Park at 47A Avenue and 48 Street.
Woody’s Spray Park offers nature-themed spray and splash equipment, including a red deer, cattails, a canoe, rainbow rings, spraying trees, and other fun critters. It is located at the north entrance of the G.H. Dawe Community Centre at 6155 67 Street.
The Don Moore Recreation Centre Outdoor Pool, located at 4501 47A Avenue, includes a 50-metre pool for public and lane swimming, one- and three-metre diving boards, and a children’s shallow area with spray features. Lounge chairs are available around the pool, along with a designated outdoor eating area.
Spring hours at the Don Moore Recreation Centre will take effect on June 1, 2025. Visitors are encouraged to check the online drop-in swimming schedule before arriving.
Additional water amenities in the city are also preparing for summer. The Capstone Fountain will open on June 1, and will be open daily from 12 to 10 p.m., weather permitting. Operating details for Bower Ponds and Discovery Canyon are available on their respective websites.
