Spring has arrived, and street sweeping season is underway. The City’s annual street cleaning program begins the evening of April 12, with crews starting along medians to remove winter debris and clean up roads.
To help reduce traffic impacts on major roadways, and support safer travel for everyone, arterial roadways are swept overnight, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 3:30 a.m. Motorists can expect minor traffic impacts during this time.
Once major roadways are complete, daytime sweeping will begin in downtown and residential areas. Because operations depend on weather conditions, a further update will be shared at that time.
Street sweeping helps keep neighbourhoods clean, improves air quality and protects local waterways. Residents are asked to give crews plenty of space and slow down when approaching street sweeping equipment. Your cooperation helps keep crews safe and Red Deer looking its best.
