The Environmental Master Plan serves as a guide to improve environmental sustainability in our city by setting goals and providing short, medium and long-term strategies.
Our Corporate Initiatives
We recognize that unnecessary vehicle idling wastes fuel and contributes to air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and therefore have an idle free policy for vehicles in our fleet.
Part of The City of Red Deer's Environmental Master Plan is to measure greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for The City as a corporation.
We are creating a corporate climate change adaptation plan to assess, prepare for and adapt to predicted climate related impacts.
The Green Team is an internal committee designed to encourage staff and City departments to adopt more environmentally responsible practices in the workplace.
Once a year, we call citizens to check on how things are going with services and programs such as garbage collection, recycling, and composting. Please help us make improvements to Environmental Services by participating.
