The Alberta Act came into effect on September 1, 1905, formally establishing the province. Today, Alberta Day is an opportunity to celebrate the people, cultures and communities that make Alberta unique.

While Alberta formally became a province in 1905, the lands that make up present-day Alberta have much longer histories and have been home to Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial.

Here in Red Deer, Alberta Day is an opportunity to recognize our community's place within the province and the many people, cultures, experiences and contributions that continue to shape both Red Deer and Alberta.
