Mental Health Month

May is Mental Health Month, a time to raise awareness about mental health, reduce stigma and encourage conversations about well-being. Mental health affects everyone, and creating supportive, respectful and connected communities helps foster overall wellness for residents, employees and visitors alike.

The City of Red Deer recognizes Mental Health Month as an opportunity to encourage learning, compassion and access to support resources.

Mental Health Month is observed annually across Canada and encourages awareness, education and open dialogue about mental well-being. The month serves as a reminder that mental health is an important part of overall health and that supportive communities can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

There are many ways to support mental wellness in our daily lives, including checking in with friends, family or coworkers, taking time to rest and recharge, spending time outdoors and reaching out for support when needed. Small actions that promote kindness, connection and understanding can help reduce stigma and create a stronger, more supportive community for everyone.

Support is available for anyone experiencing mental health challenges or seeking information and resources.
