Canadian Citizenship Week

Canadian Citizenship Week takes place April 12-18, 2026. It is a time to celebrate the rights and responsibilities shared by Canadian citizens and to reflect on the history, culture, achievements and shared citizenship that connect people across the country.

The City of Red Deer recognizes Canadian Citizenship Week as an opportunity to celebrate inclusion, belonging and civic participation while acknowledging the many contributions newcomers and citizens make to our community.

Diversity strengthens Red Deer and helps build a connected and vibrant community. People from different backgrounds, cultures and experiences contribute to the social, cultural and economic life of our city in meaningful ways. Canadian Citizenship Week provides an opportunity to celebrate these contributions and encourage continued learning, understanding and community connection.

Citizenship also includes active participation in community life through volunteering, civic engagement, cultural sharing and supporting inclusive communities where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
