Community Recreation Enhancement Grant

The Community Recreation Enhancement Grant (CREG) provides funding to non-profit organizations that deliver sport and recreation programs, services and events for Red Deer residents.

The grant supports projects that improve recreation opportunities, encourage participation and help local organizations strengthen their programs and services.

Grant funding

Eligible organizations can apply for up to $5,000 per application, per intake.

The City typically offers two application intakes each year, in spring and fall. Intake dates and deadlines may vary.

Applications for the Community Recreation Enhancement Grant are accepted exclusively via an online form on the SmartSimple platform.

Please do not drop off forms in person.

Appeal Process

With numerous submissions and finite funding per intake, not all applications can be successful. Following the review and adjudication process (2-4 weeks), all applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their grant application. Notifications will be sent directly to the contact information provided in the application. The appeal period will start the day of notification.

Reporting Requirements

Successful applicants are required to submit a final project report within six months of receiving funding.

Funded groups will provide a status update 2 months before the report deadline and can either request an extension, if needed, or proceed with the reporting process. 

If they are ready, they will then be given the direct link to submit the report online via SmartSimple.

A CREG Grant Expenses Budget Tracking Form is provided to all the funded groups to help them document and submit their final report.
