Red Deer, Alta. – Red Deer RCMP have made an arrest after multi-vehicle collision caused by impaired driver.
On Apr. 19, 2026, at 5:40 p.m., Red Deer RCMP received a report from a local company, advising that an employee was operating a work vehicle impaired.
During the same time frame, Red Deer RCMP received multiple 911 calls, reporting the same vehicle driving erratically through the City of Red Deer, swerving and crossing the centre lines. The vehicle was first observed in the Southpointe Junction area of Red Deer and was involved in a hit and run collision on Highway 2.
Red Deer RCMP located the vehicle driving in the Edgar Industrial area of Red Deer, and police made attempts to stop it. The vehicle fled from police. With the assistance of the Alberta RCMP RTOC (Real Time Operations Centre), police continued attempts to get the vehicle to stop.
The vehicle stopped at a close-ended intersection and the male driver was arrested by Red Deer RCMP without further incident.
No injuries were sustained in the collision.
34-year-old Adam Elhouni, a resident of Red Deer, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with the following:
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
- Refusal to comply with demand
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Fail to stop after an accident
- Flight from peace officer
- Failure to comply wit probation order (x3)
Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) Hearing, Elhouni was remanded into custody to appear in the Alberta Cout of Justice in Red Deer on Apr. 23, 2026.
Red Deer RCMP are reminding drivers that driving impaired due to drugs, alcohol, or other intoxicating substances is never okay; it is criminal and dangerous.
