Air Quality

The Government of Alberta's Air Quality Health Index measures air quality in our community and reports the risk to our health. Download the WeatherCAN app for Apple or Android to stay up-to-date on local air quality conditions.
You can protect our air by reducing vehicle idling, making your home more energy efficient, and choosing different modes of transportation like walking, cycling, carpooling and transit.
Red Deer has two air quality monitoring stations operated by Parkland Airshed Management Zone (PAMZ): one is on Riverside Drive and one is in Lancaster. Learn more about the stations and how air quality is monitored in this 12 minute video from PAMZ.
PAMZ is a non-profit society that develops and implements strategies to address air quality concerns in west central Alberta, including Red Deer which is the largest urban centre within the PAMZ boundaries.
